To discover the African continent, the best gateway is undoubtedly Cameroon. Ten regions make up this country, which deserves its title of tourist El Dorado.

Thanks to the variety of its relief, its climate, its fauna, its flora, as well as its population and its traditions, Cameroon offers several forms of tourism throughout the national territory.

Four tourist areas coexist. The far north, far from the dense equatorial forests, is better suited to safaris. National parks like Waza allow for the observation of large animals. The west reveals its charms to hikers who can admire the fantastic landscape of the famous Mount Cameroon. The south, characterized by forested areas, is the preferred terrain for wildlife observation enthusiasts. Gorillas and baboons are the most observed primates, and finally, the coast, with its kilometers of coastline facing the Gulf of Guinea, is the resort area to visit.

With its 400 kilometers of coastline, Cameroon offers beach tourism enthusiasts the opportunity to spend a dream vacation on natural beaches adorned with a picturesque landscape of bays, islets, and mangroves. The magnificent Kribi Falls flow directly into the Atlantic Ocean.

Cameroon has several national parks, the most famous and best-developed of which is Waza Park, located in the far north. These parks, as well as the many reserves found mainly in the southern part of the country, contain almost all of Africa's wildlife (elephants, lions, panthers, buffaloes, antelopes, hippopotamuses, hyenas, gorillas, damalisques, cheetahs, etc.). Hunting areas are open between December and May around some national parks.

The integration of environmental concerns into tourism development projects has led to the classification and protection of certain natural sites for scientific, ecological and tourism purposes, including:
– Korup National Park, which contains plant species that are several million years old;
– The Dja reserve, classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO;
– Mount Cameroon, 4070 meters high;
– The Mayo Rey sites bearing fossilized dinosaur footprints;
– The Limbe Botanical Garden.

The Cameroonian hotel industry has experienced significant growth in recent years, driven in particular by the prospect of hosting two major continental sporting events. Between 2014 and 2018, the amount of investment made for the construction, renovation, and equipment of hotel establishments increased by 3%, to nearly 170 million euros in 2018. These investments were primarily made by local stakeholders, both public and private.
